An FX Server is a station running on a workstation or server-class machine. You typically use FX Servers to provide support services to other stations within a system. For example, use FX Server to centralize database storage for attached FX Supervisory Controllers, archive logs, alarms, and histories and to serve up graphics and aggregated data. An FX Server workstation runs a station, a daemon, and an instance of FX Workbench.
